LACA Application Requirements
Below you will find all the technical requirements and specifications for every application LACA offers.

ACE Master Schedule Builder

The ACE Schedule Builder application is implemented on the Windows 2000/XP platform via SBClient 5.05.

The user account is a separate user account/password obtained while attending staff training.
Master Schedule Builder: Builds the Master using all Student Course requests, Staff Requests and Room Requests then schedules the students at the same time to see the results.
Users access ACE Schedule Builder via a telnet/SBClient connection.

CAT


The CAT application is implemented on the Windows 2000/XP/98/ME platform.

No user account is needed.

CAT/CAT JR. is the next generation of an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) which utilizes the World Wide Web protocol to deliver a library's catalog.

Users access CAT via a web-based network connection.

o Any system that meets the minimum requirements for the Microsoft Windows operating system and is connected to a TCP/IP network

DSL

The DSL application is implemented on Windows 2000/NT/95/98 platforms.

To create an account, a Staff User Security form must be filled out and signed by both Treasurer

Data for Student Learning (DSL) software package is a powerful tool for the improvement of instructional programming which puts large amounts of student data at the fingertips of teachers, administrators, and their educational advisors. It also provides reports that you can use in filling out your state and federal reports.
Users access DSL via a web-based network connection.

EMIS is the mechanism for reporting student, staff, and financial data to ODE. The ADM (average daily membership) used for funding and the District Report Cards are results of EMIS data.

Users access EMIS via a telnet network connection.

Equipment Inventory Subsystem (EIS) is one part of the school asset accounting system which is used for maintaining an inventory of fixed assets and producing reports.
Users access EIS via a telnet network connection.

MOLE


The MOLE (Marks On-Line Entry) application is implemented on Windows 2000/XP/95/98/ME platforms.

MOLE is used to input grades on-line using Netscape or Internet Explorer. MOLE also provides a way to upload grades from Excelsior Grade2 gradebook.

The MultiLIS application is implemented on the OpenVMS platform.

MultiLIS is INFOhio’s standardized library automation software.
MultiLIS Cataloging, Circulation, Inventory, and Reports all require Reflection software.

Users access MultiLIS via a telnet network connection.

ProgressBook/Special Education Module


The ProgressBook/Special Education Module application is implemented on Windows 2000/XP/NT/ME/98 platforms.


The user account is the same as the Windows 2000 account/password. Examples of the Windows 2000 password are: (DSL, ProgressBook, Webmaster, SSWAT, Track-It!).

ProgressBook/Special Education Module is a web-based software application for teachers and administrators. The software provides an electronic gradebook, online attendance; competency based elementary grade cards, lesson plans and a parent/student access module as well as a special education module.


Users access ProgressBook via a web-based network connection.

• Workstation Requirements (Windows 2000/XP/NT/ME/98)
o Any system that meets the minimum requirements for the Microsoft Windows operating system and is connected to a TCP/IP network
o Requires a PC capable of supporting Internet Explorer 5.5 or above or Netscape 7
o Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 (If lower versions of Adobe are used, some problems have been reported with the Special Education Module.)

SAFARI ODBC

The SAFARI ODBC application is implemented on the OpenVMS platform.

The user account is the same as the LACA e-mail user account/password.

SAFARI ODBC is a software tool that allows users to extract data from OECN State supported software, (USAS, USPS, EIS, EMIS, and Student Information System (SIS) software packages) into spreadsheet or data base applications. Only users with access to these systems are able to use SAFARI ODBC. SAFARI ODBC is a Windows-only tool, so Macintosh users will need to use a PC emulator to run SAFARI ODBC. They can do this by installing SoftWindows or Virtual PC on their Macintosh and then installing SAFARI ODBC into that Windows environment.

Users access SAFARI ODBC via a TCP/IP network connection.

SIRSI

The SIRSI application will be implemented on the Windows 2000/XP platform.
No user account is needed.
SIRSI is a client/server integrated library management system for all types and sizes of libraries.
Users access SIRSI K-12 via a client/server network connection which requires Workflows Client software.

Administrative Workstation Requirements
Note:  The following requirements only apply to library workstations used for cataloging, circulation, or administrative tasks. 

Minimum Administrative Workstation Requirements:

Workstation Security Requirements:

  • Ability to download, install, and uninstall software (workstations must remain updated with most recent versions of client, browser, Adobe, etc.)
  • Ability to open .RTF files from browser without having to save to disk  (This is needed for barcode and spine label production)
  • Ability to open Excel files with macros enabled (This is needed for barcode and spine label production)
  • Ability to backup files  (Property files must be backed up)
  • Ability to install fonts (Specific fonts are needed for barcode production)
  • Ability to save files to the top level of the C drive (This is needed for barcode production)
  • Ability to save files to folders in the Programs directory (customized settings are saved in the WorkFlows directory)
  • Ability to print to a network printer
  • Ability to FTP files (This is needed to transfer vendor disks up to LACA)

 Network Requirements:

 Local District/Building Firewalls (if they exist)  -- It will  be necessary to have specific ports opened through the firewall in order for the client server software to work properly.  Also, as software upgrades become available it will be necessary to open specific ports to allow for the updates to be pushed down to the client machines. 

Student Card Catalog Workstation Requirements
Note:  Most current browser versions available require minimum operating system of Windows 98.

Software Requirements:

SIS/POISE is the mechanism for creating student information such as grade cards, class scheduling, attendance, discipline, fees, transcripts, test scores, and academic history.

SSWAT is a web interface for current and historical USAS data. School district personnel may use SSWAT to query for Vendor, Accounts (Cash, Appropriation, Budget and Revenue) and detailed transaction information (POS, Checks, etc).

USPS is used for running payrolls in school districts. This system is designed to create the employee and deduction company checks by running a series of programs in a specific order.
