Description:

Here is the spin we are attempting for our January meeting:

We are going to try a suggestion that was brought to me, and I feel it will be a beneficial opportunity to all those who would like to take part.  Licking Valley’s wonderful librarians are opening their buildings up to us to hold our Mid-Year Meeting. We will begin at Licking Valley Middle school with Donna where they have graciously offered to provide goodies for breakfast and proceed with the book sharing topic as we have done in the past which is loved by all.  After the morning we have a lunch (Soup/Salad) brought in for all attendees.  This will be provided for you. Following lunch we will take the time to share and discuss how Tracy, Donna, Melissa, and Anne utilize their time and space in their libraries. We will do a walk-through of each library and will share ideas, tips, and secrets of how we could all get the best learning opportunities with the material we are given.  This will be a very informal event and will be an opportunity for all of us to learn and share with one another.  We may want to split groups up in the afternoon with middle/high librarians heading to Tracy's at the high school and the elementary librarians going to our elementary/intermediate.  All three buildings are within 100 yards of each other, so it will be easy to transition from one to another or to all three.

As well as the fieldtrip through the libraries, I have been asked for Makerspace ideas from you to share with one another. I am hoping to have a few of you who would like to share some of your successful (maybe even unsuccessful) Makerspace ideas.  It would be super beneficial if you did have an idea (even if you would prefer not to share out loud with the entire group) that you bring in a hard copy or email it to me, so I could print them to handout and share with everyone. By working together, we can help eliminate some stress while creating fun, educational, beneficial material for our kiddos. This will give you something to take back to your buildings. I have many of you who have thoughts on wanting to start a Makerspace, but may need a little help getting started. This may help eliminate some of the jitters.  =)

We will be using the same Padlet tool “Online Bulletin Board” we used last year to add your top book recommendations. If you have time, would you please enter your book recommendations on this Padlet before Friday’s meeting?  It’s not mandatory, but will make it easier to record the titles.  I’ve included the link in this message.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please feel free to enter your book recommendations also.

Click on this link to go directly to the Padlet.        https://padlet.com/meliselliott/6incasrx2vzg

The plus sign in the lower right will open a space for you to enter your title with author name.  Feel free to add your book jacket to your titles as well, if you would like.

One other request- If possible, please bring a copy of your titles so others can see the books.  I know these books are usually the ones your students have checked out so that may not be possible.

The time frames are an estimate, but you will be guaranteed an hour lunch and to be done by 3pm.
